As President of the Tanzania Occupational Health and Safety Association (TOHASA), I warmly invite all HSE practitioners to the Inaugural East Africa Community Occupational Safety and Health Conference under the theme: Building Resilient and Inclusive Workplaces OSH for Formal and Informal Economies. This landmark forum unites safety professionals, policymakers, industry leaders, and stakeholders across East Africa to exchange knowledge, showcase innovations, and strengthen regional collaboration. Organized by partners, SHAU, TOHASA, and WASPAK, the conference offers a unique platform to shape practical, inclusive, and sustainable OSH solutions. Let us come together to advance safer workplaces for all sectors and drive a resilient future for our workforce.

It is an honour to be part of the inaugural EAC Occupational Safety and Health Conference; an important milestone in our collective journey towards safer, healthier, and more inclusive workplaces across East Africa. As WSPAK, we recognise that occupational safety and health is a regional priority that calls for shared knowledge, and coordinated action among our member states. This conference reflects a unified commitment to advancing OSH standards within formal sectors and within the informal economies that sustain a significant portion of our respective countries workforce. The theme, “Building Resilient and Inclusive Workplaces,” is timely and challenges us to rethink how we design systems, policies, and practices that protect every worker. It calls upon us as professionals to lead with integrity, innovation, and a deep sense of responsibility to those we serve. This conference brings together regulators, practitioners & industry leaders to engage in meaningful dialogue and practical solutions. Through such collaboration we will strengthen regional frameworks, drive compliance, and improve the quality of working life across the region. On behalf of WSPAK, I extend our full support and reaffirm our commitment to investing in partnerships that advance occupational safety and health in the region. We look forward to productive engagements and lasting impact from this landmark conference. Ahsanteni sana.
